Deploying Dynamic Infrastructure

Running your Events in Cloud Infrastructure is cost effective and simple using Dynamic Infrastructure Scaling in Control Hub. Before your Event is due to start, Control Hub can automatically request the correct origins, encoders and caches for that Event from your Cloud Provider (e.g. AWS).

To set this up for an Event you will need to select an Infrastructure Profile for it.

An Infrastructure Profile contains the set of resources that will be requested for an Event, in addition to supporting “workflows” (e.g. a termination workflow can be used to automatically remove the resources) and extensive set of options for the resources. For more information on editing and creating Infrastructure Profiles see Infrastructure Profiles

Once you have chosen the Infrastructure Profile for this Event, you can request the resources from your Cloud provider by clicking Provision in the Live Control page.

The status of this provisioning request will be updated in Live Control, and once completed it will show the status of Provisioned.

After the event has been Stopped and all content has been converted to VOD, you can remove all the resources from your Cloud Provider by clicking Terminate. The Infrastructure Profile can also define this step automatically, so it’s important to be aware of whether or not you need to perform this step yourself.

The status of this termination request will be updated in Live Control, and once completed it will show the status of Terminated.

Note

Provisioning resources from your Cloud Provider will incur additional compute charges on the account.
