Add Stream

Add Live Stream Page

The Add Stream page is where you can create a live event stream and configure its specific details. The page is split into the following sections:

Live Stream Properties

The Properties section allows you to set up the details of your live stream, which will be represented as an Event. Configuration options such as the Channel and the Infrastructure will play an important in your stream setup. Optional metadata is also available in the form of Categories, Event Type, and Room. Also available here is the timing of your live stream, as these values factor into the automation (see below).

All of these settings can be changed later, but you must provide values for those marked as required (indicated by the red asterisk).

Title

The Title property is a text box that requires a user input. The Title of the stream is visible throughout the system and is therefore recommended to be representative of the content you will stream.

Channel

The Channel property is a drop down box that allows you to select your desired Channel for the live Event stream. The Channel Workflows page can be used for any management on the available channels.

Infrastructure

The Infrastructure property is a drop down box that allows you to select your desired Infrastructure Profile for the live Event stream. The Infrastructure Profiles page can be used for any management on the available Infrastructure Profiles.

Stream Start & End

The Stream Start and End properties allow you to set the scheduled Start and scheduled End of your live Event stream.

Date Time Picker

By clicking the current Month (May 2021 in the image above), section 1, you can more easily move between individual months and years. Section 2 is used to control the time. Use the up and down arrows to increase and decrease the hour, minute and second of when you would like the stream to start.

Categories, Event Type & Room

These properties are all drop down boxes that allow you to configure the optional metadata that is available on your system. Each metadata property has its own page that can be used for any management:

DRM

The DRM property is a simple checkbox. When selected DRM will be enabled on the live event stream. DRM can be updated on the DRM page once the live event stream has been created. If checked, default DRM settings are applied - these are defined by the system configuration and can only be changed by contacting support.

Start Automation

Start Automation Available

The following controls define if and how the automatic start-up should behave. This includes the provisioning of infrastructure (if an Infrastructure Profile has been set). In order to change these settings a Start Time must be specified.

Auto-Start & Offset

The Auto-Start checkbox will define whether or not the Event should automatically start-up. The offset gives a lead time for the Stream enabling operators to double-check the system prior to the Stream Start.

Auto-Publish

The Auto-Publish checkbox will define whether or not the Event should automatically transition to LIVE_PUBLISHED at the Stream Start time.

Auto-Start Social Media

The Auto-Start checkbox will define whether or not all social media Publications are automatically started when the Stream transitions to a LIVE_PUBLISHED state.

Auto-Provision & Offset

This property is present if an Infrastructure Profile has been selected for the live stream. The Auto-Provision check box will define whether or not the event should automatically provision any infrastructure the stream might be using. The offset can be thought of as the number of minutes allowed for the infrastructure to be initialised.

End Automation

End Automation Available

The following controls allow for automation of the Event stopping, including infrastructure termination (if an Infrastructure Profile has been selected for the event). The access to change these properties are withheld until an End Time has been given to the Stream.

Auto-End & Offset

The Auto-End checkbox will define whether or not the event should automatically be transitioned to the STOPPED state. The offset gives a grace period so the stream is not ended too early.

Auto-Terminate & Offset

The Auto-Terminate checkbox will define whether or not any Infrastructure being used by the live stream is automatically terminated. This is only available when the selected Infrastructure Profile does not specify a termination workflow itself. The offset gives a grace period so the infrastructure is not terminated before the end of the stream.

Create Stream

If you have provided all required fields, you may create the Event by clicking ‘Create Stream’, if configured correctly then you will be presented with the opportunity to manage it further or create a new stream.
